Shadow to Sanctuary
The witness who watched from the outside to be welcomed in
A haunting life,
Ghostly reflections.
A life of solitude,
So much rejection.
A past that haunts,
Day by day.
Memories taunt,
Strip sanity away.
Moving through the world,
But not really in it.
I move as a shadow,
If it’s a race, I cannot win it.
I’m far behind,
Trying to regain ground.
Trying so hard to ignore.
The tumultuous sound.
My shadow is seen,
But never recognized.
Feeling insignificant,
But my heart, I will not compromise.
If my life is spent mostly alone,
To stay true to God, family, and self.
I’ll take that trade, cause I’m seen when I’m home,
I know that at the end I’ll get to leave this hell.
I’ll join my wife in heaven’s above,
no longer a shadow, a witness of love.
Her and I in our savior’s arms,
I will finally know, peace and presence I’ve always dreamed of.
No longer a shadow,
No longer alone.
With all of His Kingdom,
I will be welcomed home.
